Re: Should video game designers design educational curriculum?

Last week in class we had a discussion about how video game designers should perhaps be involved in the development and design of educational curriculum. Then yesterday I attended the STEM conference at the museum center.  I was in a session that highlighted using "serious" videogames as educational tools.  The presenter had these two posits: that educational videogames are the next generation of technology enhanced instructional materials and that students can become immersed in fun and engaging standards-based environments that are often unobtainable in traditional classrooms (US DOE, 2010).  The presenter was the developer and evaluator of a videogame called "You Make Me Sick! designed to teach middle school students about bacteria and viruses.  The website address is www.filamentgames.com/projects
